New Research has confirmed that acupuncture for fertility increases the chances of pregnancy. The fertility drug, Clomid is a receptive estrogen receptor modulator and is used commonly to help increase chances of pregnancy. However, if acupuncture is given during the course of the woman taking the Clomid, the chance of falling pregnant increases significantly. Acupuncture improves ovulation, influences endometrial thickness, cervical mucous, pelvic fluid and follicular development.
The American Journal of Reproductive Immunology reported that two specific acupuncture points Stomach 36 and Spleen 6 prevent egg implantation failure. In another study, it was demonstrated that electro-acupuncture had a benefit in the fertility process.
Research that had done in the West uses control groups to compare patients taking only medication and those taking medication simultaneously with acupuncture. Whereas, research done in China is based upon finding which acupuncture points and Chinese herbs work best to promote fertility.
This recent research reconfirms that acupuncture can indeed promote the health of a woman to prepare her for a healthy birth. Many women have successfully used acupuncture and Chinese herbs to fall pregnant after drug and IVF have failed.
