Fibromyalgia and Neck Pain
Western medicine is at a loss how to treat fibromyalgia and even though no cause is known, it is suspected to be viral.
Now new research has shown that acupuncture is effective in the treatment of fibromyalgia.
In the United States, research findings reported in the journal Clinical Rheumatology, concluded that acupuncture treatment helped in all the symptoms associated with fibromyalgia including
- Pain
- Increased sensitivity to stimuli and fatigue
- Insomnia
- Stiffness of joints
- Digestive complaints
- Numbness
- Tingling
- Headaches
- Anxiety
- Impaired cognition
This has not been the first study to demonstrate that acupuncture is effective in helping fibromyalgia. The University of Maryland of Medicine as well as Department of Anesthesiology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester(Minnesota) have both presented favourable research results. In particular the associated symptoms of fatigue and anxiety were successfully addressed with the acupuncture.
An important acupuncture point to use in the treatment of fibromyalgia is Spleen 21 Dabao. This acupuncture point is said to connect all the Luo vessels which are said to store pathogens and toxins. One traditional use of this point is to treat pain all over the body which is commonly seen by fibromyalgia suffers.
