Matt Callison is the President of AcuSport Seminars in the USA and is one of the primary lecturers at the Sports Medicine Acupuncture Certification Program in the United States. He first presented at the NZRA AGM Conference in Hamilton in 2002 and has since then delivered regular seminars in New Zealand. Matt’s book, Sports Medicine Acupuncture, is due to be published in 2019 and he will be presenting again in New Zealand in August 2019.
The seminar is of a practical nature and will therefore have limited numbers. Matt’s seminars are always over subscribed so please be sure to register early.
What will the seminar be covering?
This 2-day Sports Medicine Acupuncture foundational class is derived from the Assessment and Treatment of the Channels Sinews course series offered in the Sports Medicine Acupuncture Certification Program. This class highlights the myofascial jingjin that traverse and act on the neck and shoulder. Focus is on accurately assessing lumbo-pelvic-hip injuries with functional movement examinations, orthopedic examinations (OE) and manual muscle testing (MMT). These assessments will be used to build treatment protocols using innovative acupuncture and myofascial release techniques to align the musculoskeletal system, decrease tension, reduce pain and enhance healing of the injured tissue.
Will the seminar cover more than just acupuncture?
Treatment protocols will not only include acupuncture using traditional acupuncture points as well as motor points but also myofascial mobilization techniques and specific postural exercises that together will help the practitioner get the patient out of pain and provide long-lasting results.
