Matt Callison assessing the lower limb

Matt Callison is the President of AcuSport Seminars  in the USA and is one of primary lecturers at the Sports Medicine Acupuncture Certification Program in the United States. He first presented at the NZRA AGM Conference in Hamilton in 2002 and has since then delivered a number of seminars throughout New Zealand.  Matt’s book, Sports Medicine Acupuncture, is due to be published in 2017 and he will be presenting his one and only 2017 New Zealand seminar in Auckland.

This 2-day Sports Medicine Acupuncture Foundational workshop covers the assessment and treatment of knee, ankle and foot injuries. Anatomy, palpation, postural and orthopedic examinations as well as  manual muscle tests will be used to assess many common injuries. Differential diagnosis of injuries will be examined from both  Western and TCM perspectives.

Over the course of the weekend, the workshop will involve

  • Using specific needle techniques on traditional acupuncture points for lower limb injuries
  • Demonstration and application of using specific Motor Points
  • Using acupuncture channel correspondences in relation to these injuries
  • Review of myofascial mobilizations and how this is used in treating the lower limb

This seminar greatly enhances the success rate in treating lower leg injuries by combining western and eastern diagnostic and treatment techniques.

This weekend practical workshop is only open to members of Acupuncture NZ and NZASA and the numbers attending the workshop will be limited.
