A LOCATE the PAIN and TREAT the PAIN WORKSHOP
Matt Callison has been regularly delivering his Sports Medicine Acupuncture workshops in New Zealand since 2002 and returns to Auckland in June 2026.
In a nutshell, what will I be learning with Matt Callison?
When a patient reports a musculoskeletal injury, do you know what Ashi Points to treat that can quickly and effectively change the patient’s pain?
Can you name and definitively locate 3-4 common injuries affecting the pain areas that your patient is describing and/or showing you? For example, Lateral hip pain, anterior hip pain, anterior groin pain, multifidus triangle or posterior knee.
This seminar is not just about the practitioner finding and needling random ashi points but to understand the underlying anatomy, functional tests and why certain ashi points are more important than others to treat. In this workshop, the student will learn to detect the exact area of pain and to determine which primary myofascial sinew channels (jingjin) are effected.
You will be shown the most effective Number 1 go to points including local, adjacent as well as distal acupuncture point combinations. These point combinations will directly decrease pain and increase proprioception and increase range of motion to the injured myofascial channels (jingjin). Your treatment outcomes will increase.
You will be taking Motor points and Ashi points to next level with specific palpation and needle techniques to get the optimum out of your musculoskeletal treatments.
The acupuncturist taking this course will learn to palpate soft tissue indurations and pain generating myofascial points observed through the lens of TCM channel topography, nerve trajectory and common injury patterns. If you want to enhance and develop your palpation skills and needle techniques, then this is the class for you.
