WORKSHOP: Locate the Pain, Treat the Pain
[6-7 June sold out, 13-14 June NOW OPEN]
Advanced Sports Medicine Acupuncture: Lower back. Hip and Lower Extremities
Matt Callison has been teaching in New Zealand since 2002, typically filling rooms with 25+ practitioners. For his June 2026 return, we are doing something different.
We are capping attendance at just 12 participants.
This 80% hands-on workshop offers an unprecedented level of personal supervision. You will receive direct guidance on your palpation and needle technique Matt Callison and Steve Olsen, ensuring you master the skills to elevate your practice immediately.
WHAT YOU WILL MASTER
Do not treat the pain- locate its source
Can you name and definitively locate 3-4 common injuries affecting pain areas that your patient is describing to you? For example, lateral hip pain, anterior hip pain, anterior groin pain, posterior knee pain or heel pain?
This course moves beyond “random needling”. You will learn how to view the body through the lens of TCM topography, nerve trajectory and functional anatomy.
YOU WILL LEARN TO
- Pinpoint the injury: Definitively locate and treat common injuries in the low back, hip and lower extremities.
- Advanced Palpation: Detect soft tissue indurations and pain-generating myofascial points with precision.
- The Go-To protocols: Master the most effective local, adjacent and distal point combinations to decrease pain, increase proprioception and restore range of motion.
- Needle technique mastery: Refine your skills in He Gu Ci (Joining valleys), Fen Ci (Divide needling), Mao Ci (Superficial needling) and Pai Ci (Multiple needles in a line)
- Manual Therapy: Integrate myofascial release techniques post-needling to reinforce treatment and reduce residual soreness.
- The Ahshi Points: Learn to locate and needle these Motor Points, Trigger Points aas well as Accumulation (xi-cleft) and Connecting-Luo in relation to lower back, hip and lower extremities.
THE GOAL
Learn it on the weekend, use it on Monday morning. These protocols apply to everything from chronic metabolic disorders such as arthritis to acute and chronic sports injuries.
