Materia Medica is sponsoring this 4 hour talk encompassing a brief over view of the Shan Han Lun and the discussion of case histories from Heiko Lade. After many years of prescribing herbs along the lines of the modern TCM approach, Heiko slowly developed an interest in the Shan Han Lun being influenced by information from Arnaud Versluys and Suzanne Robidoux. His interest was further inspired after working with his colleague Mike Yin, who had also studied under various teaching lineages of other Shan Han Lun practitioners including Dr Huang Huang.
The presentation will aim to explain how prescribing herbs from a Shan Han Lun perspective is quite different from prescribing from a zang-fu and eight principles approach.
Be it, Heiko is the first to confess, he is far from an experienced Shan Han Lun practitioner, but in just a couple of years he has seen the profound benefits of prescribing the simple formulas from Zhang Zhong Jing as compared to his old ways of TCM.
This presentation and discussion is wholly herbal based and hence open first to practitioners who are genuinely interested in Chinese herbs and prescribing them. Practitioners in Christchurch who are prescribing herbs are encouraged to participate in the discussion of the clinical cases that Heiko will present from his own clinic.
